February 2021: Now more than ever, it’s essential to support the best Chinatown restaurants in NYC, which have faced a unique set of challenges over the last year. Still, the neighborhood has risen to the occasion in brilliant and creative ways. From the illuminated lanterns now strung across Mott Street to creative outdoor dining set-ups, if you haven’t been to Chinatown lately, it’s worth taking some time to explore its many treasures—including its absolutely fantastic restaurants. These are our favorites that are currently open.

Eggspectation – MONTREALINABOX

Our story

The idea sprung to life in Montreal in 1993. We started out with just a few key thoughts and a passion for innovation and memorable experiences.

From the first, we wanted to take our favorite mealtime ingredients and creatively expand their culinary taste delights across not just breakfast and brunch but also to lunch and dinner—set in a welcoming and energetic bar and café ambiance. This new level of innovation has led us to today’s satisfying and diverse eggspectation menu ranging from freshly prepared artisanal brioche French toast, thin French crepes, Belgian waffles, fluffy buttermilk pancakes, pastas, burgers, seafood, steak and—of course—eggs benedict! Those Montreal beginnings have grown to fit today’s fresh, clean, and very tasty modern American cuisine.

Even after 25 years, we are thrilled to celebrate our customer friendly culture with its focus on service, an eye toward better eating, and a passionate reverence for all things “breakfasty.”

New grilled chicken restaurant focuses on the greatest athletes of all time – MONTREALINABOX

G.O.A.T Grill has been making a statement in Montreal’s St. Henri borough since unveiling their mural dedicated to the greatest athletes of all time earlier this year.

While their artwork is something to admire, their chicken is also deserving of some praise

G.O.A.T Grill / Submitted to Daily Hive

Their charcoal-grilled chicken has an original blend of Portuguese and Angolan spices that aims to achieve what co-owner Gardy Henri calls “a return to African grilling authenticity in an 80’s style diner counter.”

Since they were unable to have a proper grand opening back in January due to COVID restrictions, Henri and co-owner Michaël Marrache have planned a proper inauguration on August 30 with professional athletes and Olympians from around Quebec in attendance.

“We wanted to get as many ‘Montreal G.O.A.T.s’ as we could,” says Henri in reference to the attendance of former Montreal Canadien Steve Begin and Olympic gold medalist Bruny Surin at the event.

The launch party date also marks the beginning…

Long lineups for COVID-19 tests have Montreal authorities scrambling to increase sites – MONTREALINABOX

MONTREAL — Quebec’s COVID-19 cases have shot up again recently, right back to the levels they were at last spring—but, for somewhat mysterious reasons, the availability of tests doesn’t seem to have kept pace.

Montrealers reported hours-long lineups on Tuesday as they tried to get tested, with young families, in particular, stuck waiting on the sidewalk with kids after being notified of school cases.

It’s no wonder it was difficult — people appear to be trying to go to walk-in sites, and those seem to be limited right now.

City health authorities are now scrambling to open test spots, but they say there are also other options that aren’t being used, including booking appointments online.

“We’ve seen an increase in demand for testing over the course of the last few days,” said Jean Nicolas Aubé, the spokesperson for the Centre-Sud health district.

“To see an increase is good news for us, because as soon as people get tested, the sooner we can intercept the virus and limit its damages.”

However, the wait time at the Hotel-Dieu Hospital test site on Tuesday—the main test site for the entire Centre-Sud district, which spans a vast chunk…
